- C.Licence, vehicle permit and proof of insuranceAnswer

You are 18 and have held your G2 for three months. At 1 a.m., with no fully licensed driver in the car, how many passengers aged 19 or under may you carry?
- A.None at all
- B.Only oneAnswer
- C.Up to three
- D.As many as there are working seatbelts
Explanation: Between midnight and 5 a.m., a G2 driver aged 19 or under may carry only one passenger aged 19 or under during their first six months at Level Two. After six months the limit rises to three, until the full G licence. The restriction is lifted by a fully licensed driver in the front passenger seat, and it never applies to immediate family.

When does the late-night passenger limit for a young G2 driver not apply?
- A.When the driver is going to or from work
- B.On weekends and holidays
- C.When a fully licensed driver is in the front passenger seat, or the passengers are immediate familyAnswer
- D.When everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seatbelt
Explanation: Two situations lift it: a fully licensed driver sitting in the front passenger seat, or passengers who are immediate family — a guardian, or someone related by blood, marriage, common-law relationship or adoption. A working seatbelt for every occupant is required in all of these cases; it is a separate rule, not an exemption.

How does an approved beginner driver education course change the time you spend at Level One?
- A.It removes the waiting period entirely
- B.It cuts the waiting period in half
- C.It changes nothing — it only lowers insurance premiums
- D.It takes 4 months off, so the wait becomes 8 months instead of 12Answer
Explanation: Graduating from a ministry-approved beginner driver education course is recorded in your licence history and cuts 4 months off Level One: an 8-month wait before the G2 road test instead of 12. The course itself runs at least 40 hours, and it may also bring savings on your car insurance.

How long does a novice driver have to complete the graduated licensing process?
- A.5 yearsAnswer
- B.2 years
- C.10 years
- D.There is no time limit
Explanation: Novice drivers have 5 years to finish graduated licensing. If a G1, G2 or M2 licence is about to expire with the process unfinished, the same class can be kept by passing a test and paying the 5-year licensing fee — this is called requalification. Let it expire without requalifying and you have no licence at all, and must reapply at Level One.

Your driver’s licence expired eight months ago. What do you have to do before driving again?
- A.Start graduated licensing again from Level One
- B.Just renew it — an expired car licence can be renewed within a year without any testsAnswer
- C.Pass the knowledge test again
- D.Pass both a knowledge test and a road test
Explanation: An expired car or motorcycle licence can be renewed within a year without taking any tests. Leave it suspended, cancelled or expired for more than 3 years, though, and you must re-apply in Ontario and meet every graduated licensing requirement again, tests included. Renewal notices come in the mail, but keeping the licence valid is your responsibility, not the ministry’s.

- A.A certificate from a driver education course
- B.A letter from your insurance company
- C.2 pieces of identification, money for the fees, and your glasses or contacts if you need them to driveAnswer
- D.A vehicle in good working order
Explanation: The knowledge test asks for 2 pieces of identification, money for the test fees, and glasses or contact lenses if you need them to drive. A vehicle in good working order belongs to the road test — where you should also arrive at least 30 minutes before the appointment.
