Green light

What it means

You may go straight, turn left or turn right, after yielding to pedestrians and to vehicles already in the intersection. When turning left, yield to oncoming traffic.

How to recognise it

The bottom lens lit solid green.

Where you will see it

Every signal.

What to do when you see it

  1. 1.Go straight, turn left or turn right after yielding to vehicles and pedestrians already in the intersection.
  2. 2.When turning left or right, yield to pedestrians crossing the intersection.
  3. 3.Before entering on a fresh green, check that no vehicle is still crossing on the tail end of its yellow.

On the G1 test

Green is not an unconditional go. The handbook says you may proceed after yielding to vehicles and pedestrians already in the intersection; the right answer includes that yielding clause.
