Warning signs
Bump or uneven pavement
What it means
There is a bump or rough section of road ahead. Slow down.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.
Summarised from the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook. Read the original: MTO Driver’s Handbook – Signs ↗
How to recognise it
A yellow diamond with a black lumpy shape across the middle, like a rough road surface seen from the side.
Where you will see it
Frost heaves on rural roads in spring, railway crossings with a raised deck, and pavement joints on older bridges.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down before the bump so the car does not bottom out or lose its grip.
- 2.Hold the wheel firmly and keep control; do not brake on the bump itself.
On the G1 test
The handbook pairs the sign with slowing down and keeping control of your vehicle. Choose the answer with both parts.
