King's Highway route marker
What it means
The crown-shaped marker identifies a provincial (King's) highway and its number.
Green, blue and brown signs give directions, distances and services.
⚠ Not in the official handbook
This sign or signal is used on Ontario roads, but the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook does not describe it. We show it as general knowledge only, and no practice question tests it.
How to recognise it
A white shield shaped like a crown, with the highway number in black. Freeway markers use a similar crown.
Where you will see it
Along every provincial highway, and on green guide signs that point to one.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Follow the markers to stay on the highway through towns and junctions.
- 2.Match the number to the one on your map or directions before you turn.
On the G1 test
Not in the official handbook, so not tested. It is here because the crown appears on many guide signs and inside the emergency detour marker.
