Destination and distance
What it means
Shows the distances in kilometres to towns and cities on the road ahead.
Green, blue and brown signs give directions, distances and services.
Summarised from the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook. Read the original: MTO Driver’s Handbook – Signs ↗
How to recognise it
A green rectangle with white place names and, beside each, the distance to it in kilometres.
Where you will see it
After major interchanges and on the open highway between towns.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Use it to confirm you are on the right road and to plan fuel and rest stops.
- 2.Do not slow down to read it; take in the top line first, since the nearest place is usually listed first.
On the G1 test
Green with white letters means distances and destinations. Other colours mean other things: blue for services, brown for attractions. Colour questions are common in this category.
