Regulatory signs
No right turn
What it means
You must not turn right at this intersection.
White with black or red; a red circle with a slash means prohibited, a green circle means permitted.
⚠ Not in the official handbook
This sign or signal is used on Ontario roads, but the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook does not describe it. We show it as general knowledge only, and no practice question tests it.
How to recognise it
A white square with a black arrow bending right inside a red circle, with a red slash through it.
Where you will see it
Intersections where a right turn would send traffic into a crowded pedestrian street, a transit lane or a one-way street running the wrong way.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Do not turn right here; continue straight or turn left.
- 2.Check for a panel with hours: the ban may apply only at busy times.
- 3.Do not confuse it with no right turn on red, which still allows the turn on a green light.
On the G1 test
The official handbook shows only the left-turn version, so this mirrored sign is not tested, but it follows the same rule. Read the arrow direction before answering.
