Traffic lights, lane-control and pedestrian signals.
Summarised from the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook. Read the original: MTO Driver’s Handbook – Traffic lights ↗
How to recognise it
The yellow lens flashing on and off, on a signal head or as a single beacon hung over the road.
Where you will see it
Quiet intersections at night, the main road at a crossroad whose side street gets flashing red, and above warning signs and obstructions.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down and drive with caution through the intersection.
- 2.Yield to pedestrians and to traffic that has the right-of-way; you do not have to stop.
- 3.As a beacon above a warning sign or an obstruction, it means take that warning seriously.
On the G1 test
Flashing amber means caution, not stop. At such a crossroad the other road usually has the flashing red and must stop, while you proceed carefully.
