Green arrow with red light
What it means
A left-turn green arrow shown with a red light lets you turn left from the left-turn lane. Vehicles coming from the opposite direction may be turning left at the same time, because they face the same kind of arrow.

How to recognise it
A red light with a green arrow pointing left lit beside or below it.
Where you will see it
Intersections with a dedicated left-turn lane and a separate left-turn signal.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Turn left from the left-turn lane. Going straight is not allowed while the main light is red.
- 2.Expect vehicles from the opposite direction to be turning left at the same time; they face the same arrow.
- 3.If a yellow arrow follows, do not start a turn. Stop if you can do so safely; otherwise complete the turn with caution.
On the G1 test
The handbook calls this a simultaneous left turn: both directions turn left together on their arrows. After the arrow, a yellow arrow means the green light is about to appear for through traffic.
