Warning signs
Winding road
What it means
There are several curves ahead. Slow down and stay in your lane.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.
Summarised from the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook. Read the original: MTO Driver’s Handbook – Signs ↗
How to recognise it
A yellow diamond with a black arrow that snakes left and right up the sign.
Where you will see it
Hilly or lakeside roads, cottage-country highways, and roads that follow a river or a shoreline.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down before the first curve and hold a steady, moderate speed through the series.
- 2.Stay in your lane and do not pass: you cannot see far enough ahead to know what is coming.
- 3.Look through each curve to the next one so your steering stays smooth.
On the G1 test
The snaking arrow means more than one curve. Pick the answer that mentions several curves or a winding stretch, not a single bend.
