Divided highway ends

Warning signs

Divided highway ends

What it means

The divided highway ends ahead. Traffic will share one roadway with oncoming vehicles; keep right.

Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

Summarised from the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook. Read the original: MTO Driver’s Handbook – Signs ↗

How to recognise it

A yellow diamond with a pair of black arrows on either side of a black island shape that come together above it into a single undivided road.

Where you will see it

Where an expressway or a divided section returns to a two-lane road, often at the edge of a town.

What to do when you see it

  1. 1.Keep right: oncoming traffic will soon be on the same roadway, directly to your left.
  2. 2.Do not pass near the end of the median, and expect the road to narrow.

On the G1 test

Learn the pair together. Arrows splitting apart mean a divided highway begins; arrows coming together mean it ends. Either way the instruction is to keep right.
