Warning signs
Two-way traffic ahead
What it means
You are leaving a one-way road; traffic travels in both directions ahead. Keep right.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.
⚠ Not in the official handbook
This sign or signal is used on Ontario roads, but the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook does not describe it. We show it as general knowledge only, and no practice question tests it.
How to recognise it
A yellow diamond with a pair of black arrows side by side, pointing in opposite directions, with dashes of a centre line between them.
Where you will see it
The end of a one-way street or a divided section, and the start of a road that carries traffic in both directions.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Move to the right side of the road: oncoming traffic will use the left side from here on.
- 2.Do not pass unless the markings allow it and you can see far enough ahead.
On the G1 test
The official handbook does not describe this sign, so it is not on the test. It is here because it is common on Ontario roads and easy to mix up with the divided-highway signs.
