Regulatory signs

No pedestrians

What it means

Pedestrians are not allowed on this road.

White with black or red; a red circle with a slash means prohibited, a green circle means permitted.

Summarised from the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook. Read the original: MTO Driver’s Handbook – Signs ↗

How to recognise it

A white square with a black walking figure inside a red circle with a red slash.

Where you will see it

Freeways and their ramps, and bridges or tunnels with no sidewalk.

What to do when you see it

  1. 1.Pedestrians are not allowed on this road. Do not stop to pick up or drop off anyone here.
  2. 2.Still watch for people who have ignored the sign, especially on ramps at night.
  3. 3.Look for the signed pedestrian route, which usually runs on a separate path or the next street.

On the G1 test

Same shape and colours as No Bicycles; only the symbol changes. A question may show the sign and ask who it applies to, not what a driver must do.
