Right lane ends
What it means
The right lane ends ahead. If you are in the right lane, merge left when it is safe.
Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

How to recognise it

Where you will see it
The end of a passing lane or a climbing lane, where a road drops from two lanes to one, and past construction zones.
What to do when you see it
- 1.If you are in the right lane, signal left and merge into the left lane as soon as there is a safe gap.
- 2.Do not race to the end of the lane and force your way in.
- 3.If you are in the left lane, hold a steady speed and let merging cars in.
On the G1 test
The handbook is explicit: if you are in the right-hand lane, you must merge safely with traffic in the lane to the left. The duty is on the driver in the ending lane.
