Regulatory signs
Yield
What it means
Let traffic already in the intersection or close to it go first. Stop if necessary and go only when the way is clear.
White with black or red; a red circle with a slash means prohibited, a green circle means permitted.

How to recognise it
A downward-pointing triangle with a white centre and a wide red border. It is the only sign that points down, so the shape is recognisable from behind.
Where you will see it
Ramps joining a highway, the entry to a roundabout, minor roads meeting a busier one, and channelized right-turn lanes.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down as you approach and look for traffic in the intersection or close to it.
- 2.Let that traffic go first. Stop if that is what it takes.
- 3.Go only when the way is clear. If nothing is coming, you may continue without stopping.
On the G1 test
The trap is the word stop. A yield sign does not require a stop when the way is clear; it requires you to give way. Pick the answer that says traffic already in or near the intersection goes first.
