Truck entrance

What it means

There is a truck entrance on the right side of the road ahead. If the sign shows the truck on the left, the entrance is on the left side.

Yellow diamonds (and five-sided yellow-green school signs) warn of hazards ahead.

Summarised from the Official MTO Driver’s Handbook. Read the original: MTO Driver’s Handbook – Signs ↗

How to recognise it

A yellow diamond with a black truck entering from the right side of a road, with skid-like marks behind it. If the truck is drawn on the left, the entrance is on the left.

Where you will see it

Outside quarries, gravel pits, factories, warehouses and truck terminals along rural and industrial roads.

What to do when you see it

  1. 1.Slow down and watch the side the truck is drawn on for a slow, wide vehicle pulling out or turning in.
  2. 2.Give a turning truck the room it needs; it may swing wide across your lane.

On the G1 test

The handbook adds the mirror rule: truck entrance on the right, and if the sign shows the truck on the left, the entrance is on the left. Read which side before answering.
