Information & direction signs
Slow-moving vehicle
What it means
An orange triangle with a red border, displayed on the back of a vehicle that will be travelling at 40 km/h or less, such as a farm tractor. Watch for these vehicles and reduce your speed as necessary.
Green, blue and brown signs give directions, distances and services.

How to recognise it
An orange triangle with a red border, mounted on the back of a vehicle rather than beside the road.
Where you will see it
The back of farm tractors, farm machinery and other vehicles that cannot go faster than 40 km/h, on rural roads especially at planting and harvest time.
What to do when you see it
- 1.Slow down as soon as you see it; the vehicle ahead is travelling at 40 km/h or less.
- 2.Stay well back and pass only where it is safe and legal; a tractor may turn left into a field without much warning.
- 3.Watch for wide equipment taking up more than its lane.
On the G1 test
The tested facts are the shape, the colours and the speed: orange triangle, red border, 40 km/h or less. It is the only sign in the handbook carried on a vehicle.
